Schnauzers of PA will never turn down a homeless Miniature Schnauzer except for practical reasons of distance or disease.
We have the 'External Capacity' to house in a heated, weather protected shelter up to 4 Miniature Schnauzers. Each dedicated kennel is seperate maintaining a confined and quaranteed area if needed. If the Miniature Schnauzer, after being examened by our Veterinary deems that the dog has no commuminicable diseases, will be let to mingle with the other homeless Miniature Schnauzers.
We cherish our own family of Miniature Schnauzers and therefore have setup a confined area disconnected from our home. The homeless Miniature Schnauzer(s) will NOT be in contact with our own dogs until an undetermined time in which we feel comfortable to let them in contact with each other.
We will house the homeless Miniature Schnauzer until a good person or family comes to adopt him or her. Please understand that we reserve the right to screen all interested parties.
Our Protocol for accepting, housing, and placing a Miniature Schnauzer is as follows:
1) Pick-up or Drop-off We will pick-up within a 100 mile radius free of any charge to the notifiying party. We will also kindly accept a 'drop-off' of any Miniature Schnauzer that is homeless.
2) Scan Of MicroChipping or Tattoo We will scan and record any perminate identification.
3) Notify Authorities We will notify the State/County Dog Warden, State Police, and veterinary hospitals in the area in which the dog was found and provide all information of the dog(characteristics, chip ID, etc). We will also make Public Notifications weekly of the found dog by contacting Newspapers and other sources in which the dogs owner would possibly contact.
4) 1 - 5 Day Waiting Period before Vet Appointment If owner does not come forth within 1-5 days we will make an appointment with a local veterinary. We will let veterminary doctor determine what may or may not be needed as to shots, treatment, etc. If dog is found to need immediate medical attention we will take the dog to an emergency animal hospital.
5) 1 Month Waiting Period If owner does not come forth within 1 month we will make another appointment with a local veterinary for microchipping. 6) 3 Month Waiting Period If owner does not come forth within 3 months we will register the Miniature Schnauzer with the local County Treasures Office as being the owner of the dog. We will register the dog using our PA registered kennel name, Schnauzers Of PA. At this time we will notify interested parties that the dog is ready for adoption.
We do NOT charge the adopting party any fee or adoption fee although we will take offers for payment of the dogs medical bills or other fees that may have incurred.
We reserve the right to ammend the above conditions. We also reserve the right to make all parties adhear to PA Dog Law.
